Dear World Day of Prayer National Members,
Warm greetings, and thank you for your continued commitment, encouragement, and faithful service to World Day of Prayer communities across Australia and around the world.

Looking Toward the 2027 Centennial
As we prepare for our Centennial Celebration in 2027, we give thanks for 100 years of faithfulness, prayer, and Christian unity. We honour the women who shaped our history and continue to inspire the vision we carry today.
Your contributions strengthen our national communities, deepen our global connections, and encourage us in service. Together, we continue to celebrate our shared faith, make a positive difference, and lift our voices in prayer across Australia and the world.
Celebrating 100 Years of Faithfulness
As a circle of prayer reflecting God’s presence, we look with hope to the boundless possibilities of His love at work in the world. May we remain steadfast in prayer, ready to serve, and united in hope, so every act of kindness reflects God’s grace and light.
Scripture, Prayer, and Transformation
In Hannah’s Song (1 Samuel 2:1–10) and Mary’s Magnificat (Luke 1:39–55), we hear how God uplifts the humble, brings justice to the oppressed, restores peace amid suffering, and transforms communities through prayerful action.
As we approach the World Day of Prayer Centennial, we stand at a meaningful threshold. For 100 years, women have led prayer across nations, cultures, and denominations. The 2027 materials invite us to honour this milestone by listening anew to the enduring voices of Hannah and Mary.
Through these scriptures, the World Day of Prayer International Committee highlights courageous prayers that proclaim God’s justice and call for change. These stories remind us that:
- prayer is powerful in times of suffering and crisis;
- informed prayer, joined with prayerful action, can bring transformation; and
- our prayers join a timeless chorus that crosses boundaries and proclaims a God who transforms the world.
Australian Project: Language, Healing and Hope
Our Australian project will support First Nations communities by strengthening the spiritual, cultural, and emotional wellbeing of Indigenous women and children across remote Australia through Language, Healing and Hope.
A Shared Hope for the Future
This centennial year marks an important moment in a larger story of faithful witness. As we gather in prayer, we share in the joy of Elizabeth and Mary, recognising new life and hope growing within our movement.
Like Hannah, let us bring our deepest aches, silent tears, and pain before God, giving thanks that He hears our whispers and knows our hearts with compassion.
God, transform our sorrow into a song of triumph!
Like Mary, let us entrust our lives to God’s greater plan. When the call feels overwhelming or impossible, give us faith to say, “May your word to me be fulfilled.”
God transform our fears into a bold declaration of your goodness!
1 Samuel 2:1
Luke 1:46-47
Prayers for our World
“Lord, let justice flow like a river and righteousness like an unfailing stream.
Lord, we come before You with a shared longing for our broken world.
We pray for a future where all people live united in the harmony You intended.
Lord, move our hearts to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You.
Lord, turn us from conflict toward understanding, so peace may reign in our world.
Lord, end division, oppression, and violence. May the fruit of Your righteousness bring lasting peace, quietness, and confidence to every nation.
Teach us, Lord, to see one another as You see us.
May we be builders of Your peace and justice.” Amos 5:24
