Jennie EdwardsWA President
Since relocating to Perth from Melbourne in 1989 with my husband's job I have been actively involved in the WDP services both suburban and in the city. I have always been passionate about literacy and until the end of 2012 I was teaching literacy to refugees at Central TAFE.
The Bible Society has been a priority mission project for our family and as a child I was introduced to the mission by travelling missionaries on furlough showing coloured lantern slides of their work overseas.
In April 2013 my husband and I were privileged to join a group from Perth, which included the Anglican Archbishop Roger Herft, and visited the largest Bible printing press in the world, Amity Printing Press in Nanjing China. Less than six months earlier, in November 2012, Amity had celebrated the printing of their 100 millionth Bible.
Seven years ago I joined the Committee as the representative of the Lutheran Church and this year we successfully hosted the Perth City service, with the focus on Cuba, in St Johns Church.
I look forward to leading the Committee and building membership.
